While working as a Paid Call Firefighter for the Del Mar Fire Department, it became apparent that there was a need in San Diego County for a specialized "Fire Apparatus Only Service Center" - Taking modern high tech fire fighting equipment to a shop that worked on "Over The Road" trucks just didn't result in satisfactory repairs when it came to addressing the "Fire" side of the apparatus. Because fire departments are held to a higher standard with regards to maintenance and repairs, the servicing of "Emergency Vehicles" demands nothing but the highest level of specialized training, workmanship and attention to detail.
Clearly what was needed was someone who could provide a service where the special relationships between the "Truck" and "Fire Apparatus" were clearly understood. Having a strong mechanical background in both automotive and heavy trucks, and a background in the fire service as a firefighter with some previous fire apparatus repair experience provided the necessary understanding of how fire apparatus was used on calls and what problems could occur.
After deciding that the Fire Service deserved better, the problem of were to locate a shop that was centralized in the county, was initially addressed by choosing to offer a mobile fire apparatus repair shop on wheels. Eliminating a department's overtime costs to transport apparatus back and forth for repairs has played a key role in helping to reduce the strain on budgets that are already stretched to the max.
In 2013 we began serving the needs of the San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District (today they're know simply as "San Miguel Fire & Rescue"), the largest fire district in San Diego County. Leasing the fleet maintenance facility from San Miguel Fire & Rescue in Spring Valley gives us the ability to dedicate 100 percent of our efforts towards fire departments fleet maintenance needs in a shop that was designed and built for 1 thing: Fire Fleet Maintenance. This specialized facility along with several service trucks allows us to better serve our customer's needs as we have continued to grow through "word of mouth" referrals.
